Christmas 2010

This year was a different kind of Christmas.  It was Vili's first, it was the first time Malachi had some sort of understanding about Christmas ("Christmas is for Jesus' Birthday and Santa brings him presents!"), we were at home, and we weren't with the Houghtons.  So different.

Christmas morning we opened presents.  Then started on preparing our lunch.  The 4 extra guests didn't end up coming so we had more then a ridiculous amount of food.  We had chickens and ham and seafood and Sri Lankin food and pavs and brandy snaps, the list goes on!  After eating we went down to Petone bay and lay in the sun and rode the jetski.  The weather was fantastic and the day was just chill and happy, the way it should be.

Here's a few pics from the day.

The boys hanging with uncle Andrew.

Santa's little helper giving out gifts.

 One for him.

 Vili had no idea.

 Mmmmm paper.

 So happy to get presents.

 A toothbrush.  He needs it....

 Checking out his new book.

I think this was just to make his sister jealous.

Vili's a little bored by it all.

Cars from his cousin = happy little guy.

 Smellies.  Yum.

 With some of his loot.

 Vili checking out his stuff.

 My little santa boys.

 Beautiful NZ Christmas day.

At the beach waiting for his turn on the jetski.

Our party hats from our Christmas crackers...Vili's was a little big.

Merry Christmas All.
Love the Tafunas. oxo

Wellington for a day

(Old post. Wrote it a month ago. Never posted it. Better late then never.)

The weather has been a-mazing this week, so we thought we'd take advantage of it by spending the day in the city, seeing the sights in our capital.

We caught the train in, which Malachi LOVED! The train is awesome coz it goes right by the water front so you get these great views as you go along.

We visited the Beehive, our parliament building. Malachi entertained himself by harassing the birds and riding on the lions.

We caught the cable car up Mt Victoria to the gardens.  At the top there were all these  botanical walks and stuff so Malachi got a map and led us around.  Then we found this really cool playground so of course we had to stop there and eat lunch.

It was so nice just to spend the day enjoy our country.  We waited for 4 3/4 years before doing any touristy stuff in Hawaii and there were things we never got around to doing, which I regret.  So I wanna make sure that we make the most of the places we live in.

6 Months

Here comes the cliche.....I CAN'T BELIEVE HE'S 6 MONTHS OLD ALREADY!!!!

It's been so amazing to see how different he is to Malachi, how their personalities develop so early.  I think he'll be a little more mellow then our firecracker, more like his Dad I guess and less like his Mum.  But he's so full of love and smiles.  He's a terrible sleeper but I don't mind, it just means extra cuddles in the night.

Here are some of the things this kid aka "Sausage" or "Pudgey Magoo", has been up to lately.

Little man can sit up now, with a 95% stability rate.

He can roll....and roll and roll and roll and roll.  No more putting him on the bed or couch.  And we often find him stuck under a table or bed.

He's found his feet, and tries desperately to eat them.

Vili is in that "mouth stage" - everything he can reach goes straight into his pie hole.  And this boy drools like no other (shirt gets changed frequently during the day), so once he's got a hold of something, its a gonner, especially if its paper.

Much like his brother, Vili is a people pleaser.  He smiles just enough to keep them hanging on.  He's very loved.  We went and saw my grandparents recently and he worked his charm on Nana.

Vili looooooves food.  He loves his highchair too, coz he's higher up and gets to see what's going on.  He munches on mum-mums and puffs all day long, he's just a hungry boy (mostly because he's so hard to nurse these days, busy body is too worried about everything else that's going on in the world).  He knows what a bottle looks like and goes INSANE when he sees one.  He can almost always hold them himself too.  Super convenient.

Vili's favourite thing continues to be his brother.  It is such an awesome thing to see these two playing and laughing together.  Malachi is so great with him, makes him laugh all day long.

While we were in Hamilton, Malachi struggled with his fear of animals.  Vili, on the other hand, tried desperately to touch them all the time, especially the dog.  He would grin to high heaven when Keisha would lick his hands or toes.

It looks like Malachi is being mean to him, but he's actually reading the "Going on a bear hunt" book to him, making some great bear noises.

Seeing these two boys together makes me itch for another one....one day.....soon......maybe.....

But Vili is just the happiest kid.  Unless he's gone way past a nap or feed, he just watches and smiles and blows bubbles to himself, he says da-da, ta-ta, ba-ba, grrrrrrrr, and squeals alot. He does high 5's, and bangs his hands on EVERYTHING.  He makes my day, makes everyone's day.  He'll be crawling soon and next thing I know I'll be writing a post about his first birthday.  But in the mean time, I'm trying to just enjoy every minute I get with my chubby cuddley boy.
