Donuts

Making donuts is a Brunton Family tradition, a Christmas tradition.
Well, Christmas came a little early this year, with a little bit of encouragement from a hungry helper. Brooke called me up, wanted to make donuts. I love her to death, how could I say no? I justify breaking the tradition by saying it was practice for next month.

Brooke ended up doing pretty much all the work, and being very happy about it all.

The production line worked..... well most of the time

I thought I got a picture of the end products but I guess they got eaten too fast. Malachi's messy face should be a good indicator of the quality.

Until next month when we do it all again, 3 times bigger....

An honest attempt

I think for me the worst part about being pregnant, besides the gross feeling and having to eat every hour, is that I crave food from home!! Last time it was Ribena and Russian fudge. Lately it's been bacon and egg pie. Yesterday I gave in and attempted to make one myself. I've done it before, but never made the pastry. It was meant to be a flakey puff pastry, but ended up a short pastry, but it satisfied me.....for now.

Happy Halloween

This year I was adventurous and made Malachi's costume. We're broke so I really didn't have any other option. He's been obsessed with this glowing sword we got from the PCC so we made him a Jedi - OB1 to be exact. We went trick or treating with his cousins Isaac and Nase around Laie, and got way too much candy that we're giving to our friend to take back to Fiji, save us from all getting diabetes. It was a great night, and I'm glad Malachi was old enough to enjoy it all. He got the hang of the routine, pumpkin out, say "tikatikatikatika", get candy, say "dan ku", run back to daddy. The force was definitely with him.

Muma's Big Boy

This boy just keeps getting bigger and bigger and louder and crazier and cuter and lovlier. He's my best little bud, i just love him to pieces. Here's an update on some of his adventures lately.

Of course we start off with the beach, where he spends the majority of his life. He got this little lifejacket for his birthday that we've been using, but it's too big and he kinda slips out of it. So the other day we tried him with some floaties and badabing! He can swim! They're so great, and he now refuses to have any of us hold him in the water.

Malachi has always loved being in the kitchen with me, washing dishes, making food. The other day I let him help me make cookies.

This boy has developed some serious facial expressions, that go up and down like a pregnant woman. He learnt the grumpy ones from his dad.

We took him to the pet shop in the mall to show him some of the animals. He was so cute, telling me to shhhhhhh when he found a puppy that was asleep, saying "hi" and "bye" to all the animals.

He got these PJ's from our friends and they're the coolest, psycadalic PJS ever. When Malachi wears them he gets all excited and stares at them.

His Vocab has boomed and he says almost anything you do. He's started putting two words together now which is good, like "bubbles please" or "more cookie". It makes dealing with him so much easier. There are still a few words he does the sign for, like sorry and thank you.

He still eats like a pig, putting food over every part of his body, his high chair, and anything else he can get his hands on. The other day as part of his mess making, he stuck his hand inside the yoghurt container and it got stuck. That'll teach you... As you can see he eats in the nude because i'm sick of washing all his clothes after every meal.

But we just love this kid. It's crazy to think that he used to be a baby. He runs and dances and moves every minute he's awake. I have never seen another child so alive before. He moves every part of his body any chance he can get. He just loves life. And although he drives me up the wall sometimes, we wouldn't change anything about him..... (except maybe getting him to sleep though the night again).

Love you son!!

A full house

We have had a full house these last two weeks. Tui's mum, sister, brother in law and nephew came to stay. Thank goodness for our 2-bedrooms!! So Malachi came back into our room (we're digressing, i know), we borrowed an airbed and we were set. It was lots of fun having them here.
We spent a day at the bouncy castle place in the Mall. At first Malachi was terrified of the things and spent a good hour riding the little horses, but he got used to it and had a blast.

We went to the beach as much as we could. The weather wasn't always on our side, but we had fun.

Malachi loved being with his cousin. They're a year apart in age but had so much fun playing together.

We ate, alot! One morning we went to the Hukilau cafe.

And we just hung out, did nothing, took pictures of us doing nothing, just relaxed, just like you're supposed to do in Hawaii.

It's been so good to have family visiting. It's so hard being far away from them and we just loved having them here. Come back and visit again soon!!!!
