Birthday Wishes

So in a week and a day i will be turning 22 - hurray for me!!
So this is my birthday wish list, emphasis on wish - we're so broke it's not funny. The life of a student. But a girl can dream right??

Sarah's Birthday Wishlist 2009

- Nail polish - i only have a couple and the colours are so outdated. I want to get some pinks, red, purples.
- Tights - i wish i had some grey and white ones to wear with my dresses and cover up my chubby knees :)
- scarf - i really want like a blueish or greyish scarf, like the lightweight ones. Tui wont get me one coz he tells me they're dumb. But i think they're cool.
- pedieg (i think that's what they're called) - my dad has one and so does brooke and i love them, i really want one. Being in hawaii turns your feet to rock because you never wear shoes.
- necklaces - the long ones, i have a bunch at home in nz but they're no good to me there.
- lipstick/lipgloss - I've never really owned lipstick, it was for old ladies. But i'm going to be 22 and that's old. But i wouldn't know what colours to pick. That's my sister's arena, not mine.
- clothes - i love ross and i wish that i could get more dresses and tops and stop wearing basketball shorts and tshirts
- brown belt - i've always wanted a brown belt, like with some pattern or something on it, very texasish
- wallet - my sister in law got me this very cool wallet for christmas and i love it, but it broke today!!

I realise now that my list is all girly things. Strange considering i used to be such a tom boy. So birthday fairy, here's my list, grant away!!!!

A great day

(This post was written like two weeks ago but I haven't had time to download all the photos until now so it's kinda old, but still fun.)

Yesterday was a really great day. And not just because i got to eat a ton of ice-cream and cheesecake. I started out the day with cleaning the chapel, a bit of service always makes me smile. then i attended the first official meeting of the sewing club, of which i have appointed myself Vice President. We went to Leeyen's house and she taught us how to turn an old pair of jeans into a very cool bag (along with other gems like, you have to have a thread in the sewing machine for it to work...lol). It was so much fun. Sewing is a skill i wish i was better at and I'm excited to learn more.

Then we went down to Kahuku to watch the rugby game. It was delayed by a couple of hours so we snuck away to Turtle Bay and hung out at the beach for a little bit. Malachi loves the sand and we found a little tide pool for him to play in. He didn't have his swimming stuff so we just stripped him down - he's a little kid, who cares right?

Then we went back, watched the game, ate some really good BBQ chicken. And even though it was freezing cold and i wasn't very interested in the game, i loved just being with my husband and seeing him enjoying himself. Then we came back, relaxed, watched a movie. Then i prepared my lesson for Sunday school today. It was about the Book of Mormon and the amazing things that took place in order for us to have this precious book. It was kinda bitter sweet because it was the last lesson i would teach as i'm being released. I love teaching, because i get so much more out of the lessons. So all in all, it was one fab day. They don't often run that smoothly or have so many exciting things to do, but I'm grateful for everyday that i get to spend with my little family. They make anything enjoyable. I love you guys!

First Owie and then some

Malachi now has his first 'owie'. The other day i was standing outside talking to someone and Tui was inside with Malachi. He put malachi down to play on the ground and Malachi crawled over to the door. But instead of standing up on it and banging like he usually does, he was hiding down the bottom. So when i opened the door to come inside, crash bang smash - he fell out the door and landed face first on the concrete. My poor little boy. The side of his pretty little face swelled up, so we put an icepack on it, which he hated. The next day it turned into a nasty scab. I'm sure, boys being boys, that this wont be the last owie he gets, but it sure made me feel so terrible to see him hurt. Here are some pictures of the damage.
Day 1 - he didn't want any photos.
Day 2.Day 3.

These are a couple of pictures of other things Malachi's been up to recently.
Peek-a-boo with MummyLearning to eat noodles.Chinese eyes.
Little Rascal getting into everything.
Playing at the park with Vaea, his slave.
Posing for the camera.

We just love our son, as you can see from the billion photos that we take of him. He's such an amazing blessing to our family.

Happy Birthday Hubby

Yesterday , 26 years ago, this little baby, Tonga Metuisela Moala Tafuna, aka Tui, was born - I know, he's an old guy! So we decorated the house and celebrated this day of days.
This is the birthday sign that we (meaning me) made for Tui for his birthday. I stayed up til the wee early hours of the morning making it for him.

We started out with opening gifts.
It was so cute, he shook every single present for a good 10 seconds before opening them, what a little kid!His new phone from Malachi - Malachi kinda owed him, seen as Tui's only phoneless because Malachi threw the last cellphone in the PCC lagoon.BYUH Represent!!Thanks Rosser Family (Malachi loved the ball he stole and the chocolates were sooooo good!!!)Malachi helping his daddy to open the presents - with his mouth!

Then Tui enjoyed his breakfast extravaganza - pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast.

This is right before he dropped my masterpiece on the ground. (He ate them anyway :) )

The rest of the morning/afternoon was spent throwing up and curled up in bed with a migraine. Sad huh, not the best way to spend your birthday. Tui is never ever sick, like never. So of course he'd be sick on his birthday. Later that afternoon, friends started arriving and we fired up the grill and had some really really great food.
Those crazy guys on the grill....I know it's kind of dark but these are some of our friends that came out to celebrate. The houghtons came later, Tiff and Tyler had retreated inside to escape the cold, and Amraa's taking the picture.Even though he thinks he's 16, or 24, he's actually 26.....sorry babe, but you're old.

I'm so lucky to have been married to this man for the last 1 year, 6 months, 2 weeks and 1 day. We love you!!!

Child Abuse

There is a serious case of child abuse going on in our house. No, we're not abusing Malachi, he's abusing us!!! Well, mostly me. The other night he head butted me so hard it cracked my lip and started bleeding. Now i have this really attractive scab on my lip. Thanks son.

This is what Malachi has to say about the whole thing....

A day in the sun

What do you do when you're husband's away at work all day?? PLAY!! Well, that's what me and Sandra Atkinson, my neighbor, decided to do. Yesterday was a holiday and so no school but of course our husbands had to work the entire day, but we wanted to make the most of a beautiful day.
So......

We packed our 'person and our property' (personal joke) into the car and drove down to the Kualoa ranch. We walked around and let the babies mingle with nature and the animals.

This is Soccer the pig. He got the name soccer because he was following us everywhere and so i decided that he was our personal tour guide and that we should name him. This is the conversation that followed.

What should we name him?
Stalker.
Soccer? That's a dumb name, why would you call a pig soccer?
No, STALKER! Coz he keeps following us.
Ohhhh, i thought you said soccer. We should call him Soccer.
Ok, his name is soccer.

But this little pig followed us everywhere!! If we ever got far away, he'd squeal and run after us, like he was sad we'd left him behind. He gave Malachi a kiss on the foot - with his teeth!! Didn't do any damage, just got his foot all muddy and pig germy.

So we looked around at the animals.....

Malachi rode a horse....

And we found this really cool place to take pictures.....

And then we got slush-puppies (i swear that's what they're called) which Malachi LOVED.....

And after all that we hit the beach!! I'd never swum at Chinaman's hat before, it's really cool. The water was super calm and so Malachi was really into it and just sat on my lap and splashed around.

We then attempted to use the timer to take a picture of the 4 of us....easier said then done. See for yourself.
What's with your head Sandra....

Wrong way Sandra...You're in the shadow Sandra.....

We decided that this was decent enough, and gave up....after 30min of trying.

All in all it was a fantastic day that could only have been made better by the presence of our husbands. Having said that, we sure did have fun without them! Thanks Sandra and Austin.
