Big boy

Oh Malachi.
How he makes my life interesting!!

I could write a best seller on the things this kid says.  Kids really do say the darndest things.

"The policeman helps me in my troubles."
"I can't go mimi (pee), I have red.  I'm waiting green for go."
"Oh, Malachi's awake! I have a gooooood sleep (pronounced shweep)."
"Oh Mum, the big te (poo) is ready...shhh, here it comes."
"Uncle Andrew is sick and Dr Oz makes him all better."
"No, I can't eat my dinner. My mouth is just (pronounced tjrust) resting."

He's the spongiest of sponges, picks up on every little thing that everyone does and says, good and bad.

He's a bit OCD about things.  Like putting things in a line.  EVERYTHING ends up in a line.

He reads emotion like an expert.  And truly believes a kiss will make anything better.

He loves books, loves to read.

He corrects my pronunciation - just like I correct Daddy's.

"No Mum, it's not sand which, its saaa-nd-which."

His love obsession with cars continues.

He likes 'instructing' others to say and do things.  Especially Grandad and Grandma, obedient subjects.

He thinks helping and working is a game, and we play it ALL the time.

He remembers rules, and makes sure that EVERYONE follows them.

(While I'm doing Wii boxing) - "Mummy no fighting, you go time out. Soft hands Mummy. You say sorry."

He loooooves tennis - Grandma Mele would be so proud.  Super coordinated this boy.

He understands the concepts of time like soon, later, after, first, once, and uses them against us.

He's learned that things are "silly", and its what he aims to be, all the time. Mostly with hats.

Son, you amaze me every day.

4 months of chub

I realised that I used to blog about Malachi like every day when he was little, and when Vili's older he'll rebel and become goth coz I never blog about him.
Sorry son.
So....

Little man's made 4 months.
I know everyone says it and it's totally cliche, but man has the time flown by!!!

He is DESPERATELY trying to roll over, has been for a month or so.  His legs are over, but his fatty boomba body is holding him back.  It's cute to see him strain though.  And he wants to sit up so bad, every time he's lying down, he's heaving himself forward.  He's dangerous.  I'm waiting every day to hear him come crashing down off something.

Trying so hard to roll.

Rice cereal is a big hit, twice a day, he loves it, even though his face tells another story.

I just love this one. Makes me laugh.

He's such a happy little dude.  All the time.  It makes all the night stuff (we won't even talk about that.....) totally worth it.  To see that rolly polly smiley face, melts me beyond belief.  He thinks its hilarious if you sneeze or hiccup, loves peek-a-boo, and home boy is as ticklish as his Daddy.  And if he's not asleep or feeding, he has his hands in his mouth. All. Day. Long.

He's watching Malachi be silly in this one; you can just see the love in his eyes!

He has a love affair with the king and queen on his play saucer - when he sees them he smiles and talks up a storm.

My boys.

We went for a walk down by the river and he fell asleep in his carrier, sucking his thumb. Cute!

But the best thing in his life is his brother - these two are buds for life.  No one can get smiles or laughs out of Vili like Malachi can.  They love each other to death, play all day, watch each other all day.  It's a beautiful thing to see.

My little man.  Oh how I love him.  I remember feeling this way with Malachi, that I can't imagine how I ever lived without him before.  Because, in the words of Dr Evil, "...he completes me...."

Hawkes Bay - Day 4

Our last day.  We went back to my aunty's for a BBQ breakfast and to say goodbye to everyone.  Sad to say, but the next time we'll all be together will be for Pop's funeral I imagine.  So I'm glad we got to get together for something happy first.

The men and the barbie.

I promise he was actually happy to have us there, despite the grouchy face.

The kiddies playing and making a mess, as they do.

Vili with his other parents.

All my girl cousins - yes, there's only two of them.

All my boy cousins - again, only 3.  It's funny to think that on my Dad's side I have 5 cousins, on my Mum's I have about 50.  Guess who the mormons are? :)

Me and the birthday girl.
After we said our goodbye, we went back, watched a session of general conference, cleaned up, packed up, said more goodbyes and then off home.

These two weren't much help cleaning up, they just sat there reading car magazines.

It was such a great weekend.  The people, the weather, the food, everything.  And I'm so glad the boys traveled well in the car.  Vili slept the whole 5 hours, waking up once to be feed and look around.  And Malachi talked the whole way there and the whole way back.  I miss my family and love when we get to spend time with them.  I've decided that when I'm rich (hurry up Tui!) I'm going to build this big village of houses in a circle with a playground and pool in the middle and my family will all live in the houses and our kids can play together everyday.  But until then, I'm so grateful for weekends like this.
Priceless.

Hawkes Bay - Day 3

Day 3 was my favourite day.  The weather again was amazing.  It was so nice to get sunburnt after being bundled up for so long during winter.  We started out at a gypsy fair which was awesome.  They had heaps of really cool stuff, a little expensive though which sucked, but there was tons to do and see and we had fun.

It was awesome, they were actual factual gypsy's that lived in these mobile homes, had dreadlocks, did palm reading and everything.

They had little pony's there and I was sure Malachi would freak out and not want to touch them, like he does with most animals, but he was keen as to ride one so away he went.

There was a bouncy castle, and Hannah went with Malachi for her first time.  She loved it, and we loved watching her!

Then we found a face-painting gypsy and again, I thought Malachi would freak out but he sat there like a champ and transformed into the little tiger he really is.

The boys had a go at a shooting booth.  And as it turned out, the guy who owned the booth used to work in the airforce with Dad.  He gave us some insight into the life of a gypsy.  They're in a different town every weekend, do whatever during the week.  He earns at least $500 a day from his little booth, so works 2 days a week, and hangs out the other 5.  Oh the life of a gypsy!

Dad having a go.  And if you look in the background of the picture of my cousin below, you can see the ex-airforce turned gypsy guy.  Dad said he was always a bit of a fruitcake.....

And there was a train, so brainer that we HAD to ride it.

It was baby Hannah's first time - doesn't she look excited?!!

And after such a long day, we had a very tired little tiger.

And then in the afternoon, the reason why we'd gone all the way up there, was for my Aunty Christine's 50th Birthday.  She is my Dad's younger sister and it has been a long time since we've seen them.  Infact I think the last time all Dad's siblings have been together was Aunty Christine's 40th birthday.  Nana and Pop Brunton weren't able to be there with us, due to Pop's deteriorating health at the moment.  So it was a little bitter sweet.  But still very sweet to all be together.  Those Napier people are such a laugh!

My Aunty and her partner and building this amazing house at the top of a hill.  They took us up to have a look at the site and see the views.  Man were there views!  This is my brother and his wife at the top, looking over Napier.

And me with the view.  I'm pretty sure that once the house is done, we're going to visit them ALOT!
Back to the party......

My Dad's oldest sister Michelle and her two boys Guy and Miles flew down from Keri Keri.  I haven't seen them since my wedding, and they were alot smaller then.

The host family. My dad's sister is in the middle, to the right her partner Rod, my life long pal, and his kids Ben and Emma.  And then on the left are my cousins Racheal and Stevie and his new fiance Nadine (Stevie lives in Oz and was a surprise for his Mum's birthday - she had no idea he was coming, let along that he'd bring his girlfriend.  He hadn't been home in almost 4 years.  It was awesome.)

The Brunton kids from youngest to oldest - Michael, Christine, Mark (my dad) and Michelle.

The whole party gang.  Thanks to the police lady who took the photo for us :)

And of course the birthday girl with her cake.  The numbers might say she's 50, but she's still 21 at heart.
Happy Birthday Aunty Chrissy!!
