Wellington - Part 4

Day 5
We hung around the mall and the kids got their faces painted.  The lady was super profesional, and now that my kids know what face painting is meant to look for, they probably won't be satisfied with Mummy's version any more.

Then we went to visit the chocolate factory.  The kids loved looking at all the different things they could make out of chocolate!  They had just finished making a giant lollipop that blew their young minds (and mine!). They had fun willy wonka dress ups, and because it was the school holidays they had bouncy castles too.  You were meant to pay for them, but the old man loved the kids face painting so much he let them go for free!

Later that day, Vili drew his first person ever.  Totally unaided and uninstructed.  I was so proud.  True to form, the person was standing next to the only other thing Vili ever draws - fire.

This trip was so good.  The relationship these kids have with their aunties and uncles and cousins is so important to me.  They're all such good buddies.  Lani calls everyone "Hannah" if she doesn't know their name.  And I think there's just something exciting about going to visit your cousins that live far away.  We're hanging out for Christms when we see them all again.

Wellington - part 2

Day 4
We spent the day in Wellington City with my baby brother and his partner.  It was absolutely perfect weather for it, thank goodnes.  We went to the Wellington zoo and spent a few hours losing Lani and our stoller.

The best part of the day of course was being with Andrew.  He is by far the best uncle ever, the kids just adore him.  I miss him like crazy. And Nikita is the sweetest person ever. So it was nice to be with them, if only for a few hours.

Then we rode the cable car up Mt Victoria and played at the botanical gardens.

Later we went to a Japanese resturant and had some yummy food before calling it a day.  A very long, expensive ($36 to park for 2 hours!!!), fantastic day.

Wellington - Part 1

Our trip to Wellington was amazing.  Too short, as always.  My two favourite brothers live there so a trip down is worth every cent to me.

Day 1
We caught the train to the Pools in Porirua.  The train station is only about 10min walk to the pools and it was a beautiful day.  They are the best pools.  I was the designated slider this time, so went on the hydroslide probably 40times, taking one child at a time.  I'm so nice.

And of course we got to have lots of cuddles with our newest niece/cousin Lily who Lani just adored.  She wanted to hold her constantly.

Day 2
We got to play at my brother's school in the gym.  We set up an obstacle course for the kids which they loved.

This is so typical of these two, always smiling, NEVER looking.

That night we went for twilight rides on the mini trains at the park near my brother's house.  The wind was FREEZING cold but none of the kids cared.  They kept riding until we ran out of money for tickets.

Day 3
Despite the wind we spent the morning at the beach.  The kids braved the icey water and played until the mummy's were freezing and wanted to go home.
