Fun in the Sun

This week we went with some of the faculty mothers and children to a discovery garden in Punalulu, about 15 min down the road. The place is run by a Hawaiian play group who set it up for their children to learn about gardens and plants and water and bugs. It really is a great little place. The ladies there took us around and showed us different plants that the children are growing, helped the kids to weed, sang songs, read stories (all of these were hawaiian), made things out of coconut leaves, and just had a blast. The rest of the children were 3+, but little (little being a relative term) 11 month old Malachi just blended right in. He was overwhelmed with joy at the abuncence of his favourite thing - ROCKS!!! Here are a few pictures of him and his hunt for rocks.

He started off very insterest in the artwork....oh wait....it's a big rock

Hey look mum, rocks!

These are some great rocks.

guys, there are some really great rocks over here!

Rocks.....

Rocks.....

They had a little pool for them to play in and our water boy just got right in there.

The only plant he was interested in was.......taro!!! Our little tongan man....

Listening with the other children about the tomato plants, but really wondering about where he can find more rocks.

Mr over-achiever stood right in the front to listen to the stories.

He tried to eat a few of his rocks and ended up with a Hitler mustache....with his bob marley onsie...nice!!

Change of clothes....same mission........rocks!

Mum, I just really like rocks!!!

My favourite part - a change of scenery and something different to do for the morning.
Malachi's favourite part - the rocks!!

Thanks Caryn for inviting us to come along!!
